The door to my apartment is uneven leaving a pretty big gap between floor and door on the one side. This means that I come home everyday to this:
zip ties, cat toys, seals from plastic bottles, mail, bottle caps, a key, a tampon, and one time - green beans. all of these things have been slid under the door by a cat into the stairwell and usually, they want the stuff back. Pia gave me the cutest suggestion for a door draft blocker/stopper thing, but i think that will be better once i have a sewing machine so i will revisit this in the future. this was the simplest thing i could do.
materials needed: a sock, a bag of rice, needle and thread, safety pin, a cat to supervise (bottom right).
steps:
1) lose a knee sock so you have one lonely one remaining.
2) launder the sock.
3) pin the foot part back (i found this helpful so i could lengthen it if needed)
4) pour rice into sock. once you pour it in, flatten it out so you can see how thick it will be and if you will need more rice.
5) sew the open end closed.
6) put in front of door
and voila! obviously, my supervisor is pleased with my work and can't contain her floppitude.
And once the zombie war hits you'll have a sock full of food to munch on. Always a step ahead!
